Things To Do in Wimberley

What to do in Wimberley:

Wimberley is a fun place to be with plenty to do. From good restaurants and drinking establishments to live music and natures blessings. Take the time to smell the roses and enjoy the scenery. Welcome to Wimberley.

The Corral Theatre - It's a summertime thing. Much like the drive-ins of old but this one you walk into with your lawn chair and cooler. One of my favorite Wimberley pastimes. Sit out under the stars and watch a first-run movie. Showtime is at dusk but get there early for a good seat. Steel metal rockers are provided or bring your favorite lawn chair. 512-847-5994. located off RR 3237 on Flite Acres
The Blue Hole - Great place to bring the family for a cool dip in Cypress Creek. During the summer the swimming area is by reservation. Call 512-660-9111 Swing off the Cypress trees that line the banks of this scenic creek, Great place for a picnic. Located off Old Kyle Rd.
Winter-Mills Hike and Bike Trail - So now you have gorged yourself on fine foods and craft beers and it is time to get some fresh air and exercise. One of the nicest things that has happened to Wimberley is the hike and bike trail located off Winter Mills Parkway. Try the location where RR 3237 meet the winter Mills PKWY and head off into the woods. And definitely take the smaller paths that lead off the main paths...you will find some beautiful settings.
Wimberley Farmers Market- Locally grown, fresh farm produce. Every Wednesday starting at three. Located on RR 12, turn at stoplight towards Wimberley tourist center and Brookshire Grocery store.
Wimberley Glassworks - Go by and look at the incredible glass work they do here and make sure you stay and watch a demonstration of glass blowing. Call for times 512-393-3316.
Wimberley Square - Shopping, music, restaurant and pubs of every kind. Lots of unique stores. It is hard to survive in Wimberley if you are not unique.
Wimberley Zipline Adventures -Ten lines of fun, beautiful hill country scenes and what a delight as you are flying through the trees. Mike and Christie are great hosts. 512-847-9990.
The Wimberley Players - this group has been putting on shows here for some twenty-five years. A new playhouse has added to the joy of watching various performances throughout the year. Call (512) 847-0575 for showtimes.
Market Days - Held the first Saturday of every month March - December at Lions Field off FM 2325. Second largest outdoor market in Texas with over 400 vendors.
Quicksand Golf Course - 18 hole par 72 course that winds through the City of Woodcreek, two miles north of the Wimberley square off RR12.
Jacobs Well- favorite swimming hole of local Wimberley kids for decades. This is where Cypress Creek originates. Discovered by settlers in the 1850's but the Comanche Indians knew it way before. Beautiful, lovely Some eerie history concerning divers who never made it back. 512-214-4593 for reservations.
Rivers and Creeks of Wimberley- This is a lot of what Wimberley is all about. If you are coming during the summer months find a way to stay on the Blanco or deep point on Cypress Creek. You will appreciate the beauty and refreshing waters.
Mt. Baldy (Prayer Mountain)- 219 steps to the top. Beautiful views of the Wimberley Valley. Great sunsets. Bring water and appropriate hiking shoes. Click on link for directions.
Shakespeare Under the Stars - July 5th through August 12th. Kids come from all over the state to attend this highly accredited Shakespeare "school" where they learn set design, wardrobe and of course acting. Outdoors at the EmilyAnn Theatre.
Devils Backbone -Take a drive. Head south on RR 12 until it curves hard right and go 3-4 miles and start looking on your right. Some of the prettiest long-distance hill country views to be found in the state of Texas. There is a roadside park which is convenient to pull over.
Turn the radio on - We are blessed with some of the finest music in America. Wimberley's new radio station is hard to pick-up unless you are in town or on-line...but it is so much fun to listen to with every DJ bringing something different. Wimberley Valley Radio can be found on the dial at 94.1. Also, try KNBT 92.1 FM for Americana at it's best featuring local artists (New Braunfels-based station). You will hear lots of local Americana based musicians.
