Living in Wimberley Texas
I have been blessed to call Wimberley home since 1995. Here are my thoughts about where to drink and dine and hear some music in this, the most beautiful town, in the Texas hill country. If you are wondering about things to do in Wimberley click on this link as well.
Wimberley is a fun place to visit and an even better place to live. There are rivers to float, creeks to swim, hills to hike and truly unique places to go. Wimberley ISD is known to the rest of Texas for our state championship volleyball and football programs. We are also a town blessed with great academics. Wimberley high school boasts a theater department that finds itself in the state finals almost every year. Shakespeare Under The Stars is a huge summertime event. High school students from throughout the state, perform in Shakespeare productions during the summer and learn acting, set building, wardrobe production and everything in between.
Wimberley is a unique place with places like Susanna’s Kitchen where locals go to watch Wimberley and Austin's musicians perform upfront and intimate at the Wimberley United Methodist Church. For live music and a beer, we head to the Wimberley square, Middleton Brewery or Shady Llama. Our kids swim in local water holes like the famous Blue Hole, located on Cypress Creek and now a city park. Jacob’s Well is another favorite and hanging out in the Blanco River is a blessing from above.
On summer nights, around dusk, we head to the Corral Theater to sit under the stars and watch a movie, bringing our favorite lawn chair and beverage of choice. For golf enthusiasts, Wimberley offers the Quicksand golf course which rambles through the Woodcreek community. For thrills, try out the Wimberley Zipline with 10 lines soaring over canyons and creeks with beautiful hill country views.
On the first Saturday of every month (except Jan. and Feb.) is Wimberley Market Days where hundreds of vendors sell their wares at an outdoor market. Then there are Butterfly Days and the Wimberley Pie Social and Gospel Fest and the rodeo, Winters Eve Christmas fest, The Wine Walk and on and on.
Wimberley is a wonderful place to be, filled with wonderful people who are proud to call Wimberley home.
